Anaiak gin was the featured gin in our Box in August 2021. A small, award-winning Gin from the Basque Country, produced by brothers Boris and Rémy Harretche in their distillery, Distillerie Harretche Frères.
Anaiak is a London Dry Gin, distilled in the purest conditions in a renovated old garage at the foot of the Ciboure lighthouse. And like all dry gins, it starts with a neutral alcohol of agricultural origin made from organic wine marc from the Bordeaux region. Boris and Rémy are keen to use local ingredients from the Basque Country, which are abundant and not yet exploited. Besides juniper berries, lemon verbena harvested by hand from the plains of Ascain and wild eucalyptus from the Jaizkibel mountains are the main plants used to make their gin with a fresh and balanced taste.
In 2021, during the Gin Guide Awards ceremony, Anaiak Gin won the "Best in France" award as well as the "Highly Commended" award. We hope you agree!
