Meet the Homework Gin Producer

MEET THE PRODUCER: DISTILLERIE DU DRAC

Our April 2019 Box presented a small log artisanal gin from a small village along the Drac River surrounded by beautiful mountains in the heart of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region. The distillery, which makes both whiskey and gin, was founded in 2015 by childhood friends, Dorian Vieux-Pernon and Pascal Knipiler. They believe that in order to create something new you have to experiment, play and reconnect with your intuition. Finding a balance where aromas and flavors harmonize is key. 

It wasn't until after experimenting with six herbs and three different ways to prepare them that they found the right mix. To obtain their result, numerous macerations, distillations, and infusions were necessary. The end product is a delicious 40% vol gin made from neutral barley alcohol and the following organic plants: hibiscus, coriander, lemon zest, angelica root, licorice root, and juniper berries. .  

Le gin Homework represents an important step in their quest for the perfect balance. It is the result of several long experiments and the culmination of a process based on intuition. For Dorian and Pascal, it is the pride to share with you their dreams, their efforts and their passion.
