Meet the Makers of ARTONIC Tonic Water

Jean Pasquet and Larry Skoller have accomplished their goal. Along with the newest member of their team, Marion Duband, co-founder and General Director of SAS Maison ARTONIC, a native of the Cognac area and a wine and spirits expert; they are proud to officially present the ARTONIC line of premium mixers, “Artfully Crafted in the Cognac Region of France.”

ARTONIC Premium Organic Mixers is the first French line of quality mixers created for super premium spirits. These all-natural tonics and sodas are made with pure Gensac spring water and sophisticated blends of natural quinine, fruit and botanicals. ARTONIC mixers are certified as organic, use no artificial sweeteners, flavoring or preservatives and contain less sugar and fewer calories.

The ARTONIC brand was created by Jean, a highly-respected, organic cognac producer and Franco-American Larry, a three-time Grammy-nominated music producer and cognac exporter residing in Cognac for the past 17 years. The name and brand identity of ARTONIC evoke the liaison between artisan and artist—craft and art—and the savoir-faire, passion and humanity that define and drive their creativity. ARTONIC honors France’s deep legacy of valuing and supporting its artisanal and artistic communities.

The ARTONIC team’s goal was to create a line of premium mixers that would be produced locally in the Cognac region, where “excellence-in-a-glass” has for centuries set the world’s gold standard for quality. They wanted a product that fully expressed the region’s savoir-faire and that coincidentally filled a market niche in the French luxury beverage repertoire—ARTONIC is the first line of premium mixers specifically created for superior spirits that can be honestly stamped “Made in France”.

ARTONIC mixers are carefully designed to enhance the finest characteristics of your favorite spirits, allowing the singular and subtle aspects of each spirit to express itself. To achieve this objective, that meant creating mixers that were as pure and clean as any super premium spirit. They had to be organic and all natural, and have no artificial flavors, sweeteners or preservatives. These mixers could not be too sweet and the balance of sugar and acidity had to be resistant; the structure of the mixers must maintain its integrity in a cocktail and not lose its focus.

Additionally, they should be dry enough to give each spirit more elbow room. The fruit, botanicals and quinine had to have an overall symmetry. The botanical could not blunt the fruit, but rather lift it, complement it, and give it an aromatic complexity that would come hrough nicely on the nose as well as the palette. The bitter notes of the quinine—the ingredient that defines a tonic water—had to be friendly enough to please the casual drinker but bold enough to satisfy the needs of the professional bartender. The carbonation had to possess fine, compact, elegant bubbles that would not be overly explosive and aggressive on the palette. Importantly, in deference to the growing demand for premium, non-alcoholic beverages, ARTONIC mixers had to shine as a complex and elegant stand-alone alternative for the discerning palette.

To achieve these ambitious goals, Jean and Larry sourced the highest quality ingredients available and, with meticulous and uncompromising rigor, spent more than a year and a half creating and refining their recipes. They have now completed the first production of ARTONIC’s initial four flavors.
